Conscious Eating

The food we consume can either affect our body negatively or positively.

Through Veganism, I quickly realized how many food products and ingredients contained animal products. Although, this was usually a disappointment, it made me aware of many other unhealthy ingredients in processed and packaged foods. Most of these items contain high amounts of dairy, sodium, oil and sugar additives, which should be avoided as much as possible.

For these reasons, I became very conscious to what I was purchasing to feed my family. I read every ingredient on packaged foods so I can consciously make a decision before purchasing. For me, this is a very important practice, and although it can be frustrating at times, especially when the majority of products are filled with these ingredients. In most cases, I would search for more natural alternatives and whole foods; making sure that what we are purchasing contains a sufficient amount of nutrition, and subsequently, consciously choosing the times to indulge.

The good news; there are in fact a lot of companies, and health conscious food establishments, that are producing a variety of healthier food products.
