Cheesy Garlic & Herb Scones

Cheesy, buttery and tender! These savoury scones are tasty and simply delightful.

Easy-to-make for a quick breakfast or teatime treat. These herbaceous scones smell and taste super scrumptious!

These scones are best fresh out the oven, cut open and spread with butter, jam, or fruit preserves. The sweet and savoury elements are divine!

Ingredients

  • 3 3/4 Cup Flour

  • 1 Cup French Maid Garlic Margarine https://cgacaribbean.com/

  • 1 tsp Baking Powder

  • 1 tsp Baking Soda

  • 1 Tbl Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 1 Cup + 3 Tbl Soy milk (plus more for brushing)

  • 1/4 Cup chopped Chive

  • 2 Tbl Parsley flakes or fresh chopped parsley

  • 1/2 - 3/4 Cup Shredded Vegan Cheese

  • 2 tsp Salt (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • Nutritional Yeast for topping


Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.

  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl.

  3. Measure and cut cold margarine into cubes, and use a pastry cutter or fork to cut the cubes into the dry ingredients, until you have small pea- sized crumbs.

  4. Now slowly add your milk to the flour mixture and lightly fold to combine.

  5. In a small bowl add your baking soda and apple cider vinegar and mix to combine. Add to the mixture and lightly fold until combined.

  6. Fold in the shredded cheese, chive and parsley.

  7. Shape the dough in the form of a biscuit, place on a baking tray and brush the tops with milk. Top each one with nutritional yeast and pop in the oven.

  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  9. These scrumptious savoury scones are best served warm with a spread of vegan butter, jam or fruit preserves.
